Well i want you people to guide me and give me advice to improve my current mixing skills.

This is a fragment of a song i recorded for my girl (she wasn't my girl at that time, but now she is Laughing).

Anyway. I recorded only guitar tracks and added synth VST. Drums were programmed (at least that's what he said to me) by a friend and he also recorded bass.

Drums are EZDrummer DKFH add-on. Guitars are a custom patch with my PODxt, and I used a couple impulses from the Recabinet DEMO library, and did some blending to simulate the studio fredman miking techinque.

I have never listened to this song on studio monitors, or even good quality speakers, so it's probably going to sound like sh**.

I'm not even an "average" guitar player nor musician. But i just want to learn how to mix properly.

So any advice, comments, will be appreciated. (specally about the drums x_x)

damn this mix is clean. no noise. me like! Smile

well overall i like the mix a lot!!
i'd barely change anything but since you asked for help and writed a long post its a pity to let you without any "bad" comment haha xD

You could boost a little at about 250hz to your snare to be more "fat" if you know what i mean.

Well i like the "hummmm" of the bass so in this mix you could put more bass in there mate!!
Especially in the muted stuff that you play: bass = ear sex.

You could boost some mids from the amp to your guitars and cut some highs. Well this way your guitars, with combination of the bass, could be "darker". The mix would be darker and the synth would shine and cut through A LOT!

If i were you i'd pan the synth a liiittle harder.

Well the above is what i imagined that my mix style would be if i had this song to mix.
As i said i listened 4 times to yours without ear fatigue, no itching, everything was really cool to me.

Start collecting some money to buy gear you've got it inside you to be music producer hehehe Very Happy

Hell Yeah! :yeah:

Thanks a lot for your feedback guys. i'll try out some of your Tips right away sender Twisted Evil

And i'm really glad some of you liked the tune, i'm not a virtuosso or nothing like that, i'm more simple-song oriented, kind of like Nirvana (those guys wrote songs with just 4 chords xD).

Well i want you guys to judge this mix, another song i recorded for my girl (just a fragment though).

I used Fearcomplexmusic's Orange 2x12 IR's on guitars.

On my master buss just Gclip and waves L2.

Any comments, advice, anything will be appreciated.

I quite like the track actually. One thing I do notice, is i think the cymbals overpower the rest of the kit. Maybe bring up the kit a little bit more, and turn down the cymbals a tad.
