Hi folks, It's been a while when I wrote here. My girlfriend takes all my time Smile But now I'm ready to sit down and work with my DAW smoke ... So, I have one stupid question. Normally I record 2 guitars (hard panned L/R) or Quadtracking (L/R 100% and L/R 80%). Almost every time I add Amplitude 3, Pod Farm or AmpSim presets, then I'm using FearComplexMusic's Impulses. Sometimes I send these tracks to Reverb or/and Delay tracks. These are all my presets which I'm using with guitars. Then I record Bass with the same amount of FX or less. jocolor Also I multitrack Drums... At kick I'm using compressor, EQ, gate... At snare..... (and so on...). scratch And at this point I have a big problem. YES you guess it right.... it's a CPU memory or power... I don't know how to call it. study Playing tracks starts to break and pop. It is sure that the CPU can't cope with all these compressors, EQ's and other FX's. affraid (I have Dual Processor 2.1 GHz, 4 Gb RAM I think it's sufficient).

So, I hope that you understood my question and I ask to give for us newcomers some information how to escape from these problems. . pale I mean what are you doing and thinking (not about the girls) at the recording process, how you optimize your work .

P.S. Sorry for bad english. Smile

I know what you mean...I hate when that happens. Rolling Eyes
Well you have three choices.

You could either:

1) Freeze the track.
OR
2) Leave all your plugins off on your track and turn them on later when you are done with the mix.
OR
3) Finish your track first and by "finish" I mean add all the FX, Plugins, EQ's, Compressors. Then export it as a ".wav" or ".mp3" file and place it back into your mix.

Write back if you need me to explain anything.

That's what I used to do till i found a feature that Reaper provides:

Render Selected Tracks into (mono) Stem Tracks (and mute/bypass originals)

It's like the 3rd option you posted but much more faster Very Happy

P.S: I dream a better world though... where all of us can have real amps and cabs and save us from this cpu torture Crying or Very sad (ok I overreacted)
