Hi Guys

Thought i'd start a thread on peoples views and tips on automation.

I'll start with one.......

I like to automate room mics and tend to boost on epic choruses and bridges that need to smack you right in the chops!!!!

im about to use it for a live rig.

playing to a click track,automation controlling Amplitube 3.

have not tried it with multiple sims.i would like to use Overloud TH1 and AT3 live.

dont ever have to stomp any pedals.when the song comes to a certain section where i need another tone,my midi event takes care of it.

i sold all of my gear to go this direction.

if i buy any gear other than guitars,it will be an axe fx rig.

I like to automate vocal tracks. volume faders, effects (modulation), reverb...

You just can't keep the same sound through the whole song, vocals during choruses and during verses are somewhat different.

At least that's my approach on automation and mixing vocals. But I have yet a LOT to learn. That's why I'm on this forum Razz

it's like a very cool kind of school for me.

Nowt wrong with your approach!! I like to play with automation on everything, i'd say most tracks and instruments I mix have varying degree's of automation. I feel it can seperate an amature mix from a more pro mix.

I like automation on drums. Imagine that there is a part of the song (lets say an intro) that needs the drums to be much lower in volume and lots of reverb.

Then when the drums play at low volume and inside this cave you created with the reverb its time to cancel automation cause the guitars are about to slam your face!!!

I really like these kind of intros. Easy going first and "to your face sound" when you dont expect it hehe
