| I am not sure what people call these exactly, but when I first went and recorded into a studio with my old band, the producer asked us to make "ghost tracks". It's kind of like a track of a guitar that plays while you record your guitars so you can hear where you are in the song to not get lost.
Is there a way to import the guitars from Guitar pro into Reaper and do this?
If there is and someone explains it to me I will <333333333 them

| I have used Guitar pro in the past but currently use Tuxguitar which is a free version of it (and is awesome btw). You could simply choose to export the song as a midi file, and then go into your DAW and choose to import a midi file (it could be Reaper, Cubase, Im pretty sure most DAW's allow it). Then just select the midi file you want to import and your Guitar pro song will pop up. Each Individual track will show up, but all you would need is a vst that emulates a guitar sound that you can place on your midi guitar track. IMO it doesn't necessarily have to be a real sounding guitar vst, just as long as it helps you keep track of where you are in the song as you record your real tracks. hope I helped.

| Hmm, yeah I've thought about this, would you happen to know any sort of VST for something like this? Or could there be one in Reaper by default ? | |

| I did some research for you, I found this Guitar vst that you can place on your midi guitar track that you imported from guitar pro. Here ya go: http://www.dreamvortex.co.uk/dvs_guitar.zip(Like I said, it DOESN'T have to be an awesome sounding guitar vst, just as long as it helps you keep in track of where you are in the song as you record) | |

I refer to these as "Scratch Tracks" normally taken from rough demos or a quick take of a full song during pre-production. I don't really think there is a "real" name for them. Just whatever comes to mind
