Here is a song that I recorded and mastered. I used many tips for a youtube video posted by fearcomplex (you rock). I would like to get your feedback on the mix and mastering.

thanks

I like it Smile

I think your mix needs more midrange. A little more so it can more full if you know what I mean.

Did you quadtracked or dualtracked your guitars?

I liked the song but you really need to add something more. Change the verse or something make it spicy add a breakdown, experiment

Go on my friend nice work thumb
I am waiting for more songs and next time upload the mix so i can master it and experiment Let\'s rock!

Thanks for the feedback. I will experiment with the song. I wanted the song more complex but the prowrestler liked it how it is. LOL

I will revisit how I eq the guitar tracks.
there are a total of 5 guitar tracks
I dual tracked the guitars and panned them hard right and left.
I duplicated both these tracks and delayed them 30msec and panned them 80% right and left.

The lead guitar was centered.

all these guitar tracks were bused to a guitar bus which I applied PSP mix saturator, and cakewalk eq.

I will remix the song and post the unmastered song. I would love to hear what you can come up with and then ask what you did to master to help me improve on my mastering technique.

I've used this technique with delay several times when I used to have a guitarist having so little time that he couldn't record 4 times the whole song.

My opinion for this technique is that it's for the musicians that don't have time or they are lazy haha. There is nothing better than your "own delay" that you produce with your hands when re-recording, rather than producing delay with software.

Please if you do have time record 4 seperate tracks and add some mids to your guitar amp ! (dont overdo it though)

And please use less reverb this time!

About the guitars now.. This article will help you clear out the "junk" frequencies give it a shot Let\'s rock!

Just add some more midrange from the amp.
Guitar is a midrange instrument if you cut too much mids you'll EQing back later.
And no EQ can replace the quality of the sound that comes from the source.

So if you are using a software with guitar amps change the amp, boost some mids from the amp and apply quadtracking.

Also important: Get a decent bass sound. Do not underestimate it Wink

I'll put a spectrum analyzer when I get home and I'll tell you the exact frequencies that your mix lacks. If that helps you Smile
