| Subject: Guitar tone that's annoying the hell out me... Mon Nov 01, 2010 3:07 pm | |
| Well, I'm basically looking for something along the lines of Born of Osiris, Structures, Vildhjarta, Periphery (long shot there) A nice gated tone. Would I need to quad track to get closer to this? At the moment my set up for the guitars goes as:
TS808 LePou Lecto Kefir w/ Sneap Edge (different impulses for different guitars) Antress Modern Exciter (just a little boost) Antress Modern Compressor (-6db, 2:1, fast Attack + Release) Reagate
I'm just running direct into my focusrite saffire 6 USB with my Schecter C-7 Blackjack ATX, it has Active Duncan Blackouts in it.
Money issues aren't allowing me to get any good monitors which isn't helping me. So I need to find a frequency analyser as well. Any help would be great! | |

| Instead of using LePou's Lecto, Put in LePou's Solo C and Nick Crow's 8505. I think it gives a MUCH better tone. the chain would be something like: Solo C > 8505 Lead > KeFir > EQ > Gate This is what I usually use:

| Well judging by the guitar sound you're looking for, the guitars dont have too much bass. make sure to use lots of mids and more treble than usual and less bass. Play the higher notes too. Please try using also a noise gate at the start of the chain, if you are using virtual amplifiers. Mixing tip:
You dont have to have to use gain all way up. Less gain usually does the trick. Assuming that you are looking for a guitar sound similar to the bands you mentioned you should use a different impulse with less bass (as we mentioned). Andy Sneap's impulse has plenty of bass in it as far as i know. An impulse with an orange amp could be cool. Matching the right amp with the right impulse and tweaking is the key.
